With only a few details left, preparations are almost complete — and the wait for my Belgian Shepherd puppy grows shorter.
🐾 Almost Ready
It was a quieter week for preparations, but that’s because there isn’t much left to do — everything is really coming together.
Supplies
Nearly all of the supplies are here now. The only things still on my list are food and water bowls for home and a travel crate for the RV. We also built the crate for home, which was more work than expected — but it turned out beautifully.
Training
I’ve started looking ahead at more advanced training options. I attended a scent work trial this week and found a trainer I liked, so that’s something I may explore further if we decide to pursue that sport.
Other Preparations
I finalized my questions with the breeder and was happy with the answers. I also made the decision about insurance. After researching, I didn’t find a plan that covered what I wanted — most focused on accidents and emergencies, with limited wellness coverage. Instead, we’ve decided to budget a set amount from each paycheck for dog expenses. This feels like the best and most flexible choice for our girl.
What's Next
- Order bowls and a travel crate
- Build the playpen
- Start organizing for puppy pickup
- Sort and arrange all the supplies
I’m beginning to feel that mix of excitement and nerves that comes when the wait is almost over. Seeing her latest photos — such a beautiful, independent little girl — makes me even more eager to finally meet her.
